Robert Douglas Anderson, age 76, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, in Tacloban City, Leyte, Philippines. Robert was born on November 1, 1948, in Wallace, Idaho, to the late Lawrence Douglas and Marguerite Jean Anderson.
Friends and family gave Robert many names throughout his lifetime, known to some as “Doug” and others as “Bob.” Robert found joy in being of service to others and was regarded as a ‘handyman’ in many respects. Robert is fondly remembered as a gifted storyteller and conversationalist, jokester, and cribbage player. He grew up surrounded by a large, hard-working family, and later created two of his own. He served as Sergeant Anderson in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and later earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Montana. Of his many accomplishments, Robert’s greatest pride was always his children.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Marguerite; siblings, Blanche, Maureen, Nita, Rita, Janice, and Jerry; and daughter, Nicole.
Robert is survived and missed by his children, Derek, Sophia, and Andrew; his grandchildren, Emma, Kamryn, and Sawyer; and his siblings, Thomas, Jane, Kay, and Sharon. He is remembered with fondness and love by his former spouse, Zulia Anderson, and her family.
Robert will be laid to rest alongside his family at the Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka, Montana. A service to honor his life will take place at the cemetery on Friday, October 10th, at noon, followed by a remembrance gathering in Parish Hall, located next to the Saint Joan of Arc Church.
