Rodney Wolf

A Funeral Service for Rodney Wolf, 88, of Killdeer, ND will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 31, 2026 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Killdeer with Pastor Katie Rodriguz celebrating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South of Alexander.

Visitation for Rodney will be 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer with a prayer service at 6:00 pm.

Rodney passed away on July 18, 2026.

Rodney was born on May 19, 1938, in Krem, North Dakota, to Tobias and Esther (Wittmaier) Wolf. He grew up south of Hazen on the family farm and graduated from Hazen High School in 1957. He later attended NDSU (at the time NDAC), where he studied animal science and horticulture. While in college, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service during the summers. During his last summer he served as a smoke jumper out of Missoula Montana. Following his education, he began a long career with FmHA. Rodney took a break in the beginning of his career, after being drafted, to proudly serve in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at the Bosphorus in Turkey where his job/MOS in the Army was Radio Crypto/Teletype Operator. During his tour in Turkey Rodney spent his R & R in the Holy Land. Rodney met Verna (Macik) in Minot, ND and the two were married on June 19, 1965, in Alexander. They eventually made their permanent home in Killdeer. Rodney continued working for FmHA for 39 years before retiring in 2000. Following his retirement, Rodney spent much of his time working and enjoying their farm that Verna grew up on.

Rodney enjoyed woodworking, tending to plants and flowers, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was also active in his community and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the Killdeer Fire Department, and the Hilltop Home Foundation.

He is survived by his wife, Verna Wolf; children, Jane (Alex) Passos of Iowa, Lee (Jarmii) Wolf of Kansas, and Verne (Tracy) Wolf of Kindred, ND; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mathew, Alexis, Taylor, Rodney, Elliott, Isabella, Grey, and Addy; great-grandchildren, Evan, Danny, Jerry, Miriam, Vivian, and Theresa; sister, Arletta (Jim) Schuh; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Miriam.
