Ronald passed away Friday, February 13, 2026 at his home in Killdeer.
Ronald Jacob Fettig was born November 26, 1951. He graduated from Killdeer High School in 1969 and attended the University of North Dakota for one year. He later lived in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, for five years before returning to Killdeer, where he made his lifelong home.
He began his career in construction, first working for Brew Construction and later for K-F Construction for many years alongside his brother, Royd. In 1997, he became the Building Official for the City of Killdeer, initially part-time and then full-time following his retirement from construction. During his tenure, he also served on the State Board of Building Officials. He retired from the City in 2021 after many dedicated years of service to the community.
Ronald married the love of his life, Loree, in 1978. To this union two daughters were born, Aleaha and Abby.
An all-around sportsman, Ron enjoyed hunting with friends and family and had a special love for fishing, even building his own fishing rods. He was an avid bowler and was inducted into the North Dakota Bowling Hall of Fame in 2012. He proudly participated in the USBC National Bowling Championships for 40 years, most recently this past spring. He also played softball for many years and enjoyed golfing whenever he had the chance.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, and the many friendships he formed through sports and community involvement.
Ronald is survived by his beloved wife, Loree; daughters, Aleaha (Brett) Fettig-Ledeboer and Abby (Jason) Wald; grandchildren, Huxley Ledeboer, Toni Wald, Tana Wald, and Ty Wald; brothers, Royd (Janette) Fettig and Ralph (Lori) Fettig; nieces and nephews, Shawn Fettig, Nicole Shoquist, Sheldon Fettig, Derrick Fettig, Jennifer Sys, Brad Bjerke, Brian Bjerke, and Bryce Bjerke; and many friends who will deeply miss him.
He is preceded in death by parents, Nick (Ruth) Fettig and grandson Benson Ledeboer.
