Funeral Services for Ruth Ann Werchau, 81, of New Salem will be held at 10:00 a.m. CT., Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Peace Church in New Salem with Pastor Darrel Aleson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Judson Cemetery.
Ruth Ann passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.
Ruth Ann Werchau was born May 2, 1942 in Mandan, North Dakota. She grew up in Judson and graduated from New Salem High School in 1960. She married Wayne Werchau on May 4, 1963 at the Zion Evangelical Church in Judson. Together the couple had three children, Bonnie and twin boys Kevin, and Steven.
Ruth Ann was just as kind hearted as she was strong willed. She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing (only for walleye, not bass), gardening, sewing, card playing, and making sausage and homemade noodles. Ruth Ann also loved to keep track of all her family history. She had a book of all different obituaries and family genealogy.
Ruth Ann worked for over twenty years as the secretary at Peace Church, where she also sang in the choir and was a member of the Women’s Guild.
Ruth Ann will be remembered for her kind hearted nature.
Ruth is survived by her husband Wayne of New Salem; daughter, Bonnie Toepke of New Salem; twin boys, Kevin Werchau, Steven (friend Cindy) Werchau both of New Salem; grandchildren, Jamie Myers, Hollie (Jared) Kautzman; great-grand-triplets; Landry, Graeme, Camryn; sister, Alyce Mae Koch of IN; brother, Jerome (Lauretta) Wolff of Judson; sister-in-law, Gloria Klug of Dickinson; brother-in-law, Martin( Meredyth) Werchau of New Salem; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Art and Sophia; brothers-in-law, Gene Koch, George Klug; and niece, Katherine Wolff.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Judson Cemetery.
