Shirley Billington

A graveside service for Shirley Billington, 91, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 am MST, (11:00 am CST), on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Bismarck.

Shirley passed away on September 10, 2025 at St. Lukes Home.

Shirley was born in Fargo, ND on July 23, 1934, the daughter of Edwin and Elizabeth (Hartze) Walsh. She grew up in Zap, ND and graduated from Zap High School. Following graduation, she moved to Bismarck and worked as a switchboard operator for the Patterson Hotel. It was here where she met her future husband, Floyd Billington Jr. The couple was married on November 4, 1957 in Bismarck. Shirley and Floyd were blessed with three sons. While raising her family, Shirley was a great help in the family business, Billington Salvage Yards. Once her boys left home, Shirley dealt blackjack. She was very outgoing and enjoyed visiting with folks everywhere she went. She was active with the Moose Lodge in Bismarck. Shirley loved flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed holding and attending rummage sales. She will be dearly missed.

Shirley is survived by her son, Todd (Kim Howie) Billington of Belfield; two grandchildren, Todd James (John) Billington of St. Paul, MN, Nichole (Michael) Rydberg of Elk River, MN; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Nolan Rydberg and Rose Billington (baby sister Iris is due soon); brothers, Ed (Joanne) Walsh, LeRoy Walsh; sisters, Marilyn (Tony) Duttenheffer, Nina (Randy) Graves, Elizabeth "Burnell" (Tony) Bushy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Billington Jr.; sons, Troey Billington, David Billington; sister, Gloria Klee; brothers, Allen Walsh, Donnie Walsh and Gaylen Walsh.
