Walter Steffen

Funeral Service for Walter Steffen, 86, of Killdeer, will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Killdeer, ND with Pastor Dorothy Stein officiating.   Burial will follow in the Killdeer Cemetery.

Visitation for Walter will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Killdeer.

Walter passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer, ND.

Walter Henry Steffen was born May 27, 1933 at Fairfield, ND to Fred C. and Emilia (Roth) Steffen. He grew up on the family farm in Fairfield until the family moved to a farm north of Manning. Walter lived at the farm north of Manning all of his life until moving to Hilltop Home of Comfort in Killdeer in 2017.

His life revolved around the family farm where he farmed and ranched all of his working life.  He spent most of his free time working in his wood shop where he would create and build many different kinds of projects.

He is survived by his sisters, Rose Thompson, Dorothy Johnson, Elaine (Harry) Carsen, and Connie Connolly; brother, John (Betty); sisters-in-laws, Eileen and Virla; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Viola Lundberg, and Hilda Visness; brothers, Irvin, Henry, Carl, David, William and two infant brothers; and brothers-in-law, Darl Thompson, Gus Meyers, and William Connolly; and lifelong companion, his dog, Tiger.
