A Celebration of Life for Bill James, 70, of Baker will take place at 4:00 pm, Friday, July 24, 2026 at the American Legion in Baker.

Bill passed away Friday, July 17, 2026 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.

William Owen "Bill" James, born on June 29, 1956. He spent many years working in the oilfields, from Belfield, North Dakota, to Baker, Montana. Following his retirement, Bill enjoyed working on the farm alongside Loraine and family.

Bill found great joy in spending time outdoors, especially fishing with his boys. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

A special thank you to the staff at Fallon Medical Complex for the care and compassion shown to Bill.

Bill is survived by his step-sister, Carol Cowger and her family; his sons, Eric (Maria) James of Killdeer, ND, Dustin (Dawnette) James of Baker, MT, Dillon (Kadri) James of Baker, MT, and Jason James of Dickinson, ND; grandchildren, Emeri, Kellen, Madisyn, and Kacen.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Leighton James.
