Kenneth Joe Schweigert warmly and forever remembered as "Whitey' passed away on February 18, 2026, in Spearfish, SD.

Kenneth was born on November 22, 1933, to John and Clara Schweigert in Plevna, Montana where he joined six brothers and three sisters. He attended grade school in Plevna before the family moved to Ekalaka, where he completed his schooling. During high school, Whitey excelled in basketball, maintained solid grades, and met the love of his life, Audrey Phelps.

Following high school, Whitey proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He spent four years aboard the destroyer USS O'Bannon, providing support to a Navy aircraft carrier. During a quick trip back to the States, he asked Audrey to be his bride, and they were married on February 6, 1954. To this union were born their son, Kenneth Lee, and daughters, Sherrie Lane and Lynn Dee.

After his naval service, Whitey worked for the REA, where he experienced a life-changing event during his time on the job. After his recuperation, he never looked back. Together, he and Audrey ran the Corner Grocery Store before pursuing what he had always wanted to do-farming and ranching. He later carried the rural mail route for 32 years, faithfully serving his community.

Whitey was a proud Navy veteran, a Mason, and an active member of the Carter County Jaycees. He also served on the local school board. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends. He truly loved his work, the challenge it brought, and the opportunity to watch things grow. Above all, he cherished his family and was devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Audrey remained his guiding star throughout his life.

Whitey is survived by his daughter, Sherrie (Brad) Anderson; granddaughters, Danelle Motley and sons Malik and Keyon, Kelsey, (Matthew) Gagnon and their sons Keegan, Rudy, Jackson and Kane and grandson, Kendall Anderson; brother, Charles Schweigert; sister, Carol Holfeldt.

Whitey is reunited in death with his beloved wife, Audrey; his son, Kenneth Lee; his daughter, Lynn Dee; his parents, John and Clara; his brothers, Erwin, Johnny, and Donald; sisters, Eleanor, Virginia, and Silvia; and grandson-in-law, Keith Motley.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Whitey's name.
